7.1 is a collective born from the same love, obsessions, and raw humanity that resides in all of us. It is from this shared space that our belief in narrative art emerges. We explore the notion that in every high and low, the underlying truth of our equal worth is not a somber fact, but a unifying one. Our music aims to present life through a multitude of individual lenses. Sonically, 7.1 operates at the intersection of Rock and Folk, masterfully fusing modern sounds with the distinctive vibe of 90s Thai Pop. By weaving together modern synth textures and alternative guitar riffs with classic instrumentation, the band creates a deeply resonant and utterly original sound that defines the 7.1 experience. We formed the band in 2018, in an era where pandemics and stolen opportunities became our new normal. 7.1 wasn't anything special. It was just a gathering of friends who shared a similar perspective on life. We started making music from the familiar scents of our own experiences, selfishly mixing in our own beliefs. There was Snew, who was fascinated by human stances, thought processes, and decision-making—the reasons, experiences, and deep-seated scars embedded in people across the world. This interest grew into an obsession with the human psyche, and it began to morph into a tool for him to attract others with similar fascinations. Eventually, he started sharing these fervent passions with Guy, a guitarist in search of love and a reason for living, and one of Snew's few close friends. Guy became intrigued and convinced Snew to transform this from being just his unbounded obsession. Guy's own desire was to play music, the one thing he had always done. Then came the person who made it all more than just the pipe dream of two men: the boy from the front of the room, where not even the light would reach. Mo, the keyboardist, who wanted to escape the one thing that had been a thorn in his side—the order and discipline his life was built upon. Having grown up with strict rules and structure, he became enamored by chance with Snew's interests. Finally, Mo decided to change his life and walked in with a short, confident statement: "I want to make the idealistic music you guys envision." His aspiration was pure and sincere. Time passed. Starting as kids who knew nothing about music, they became increasingly enchanted by its frameworks. But their efforts didn't lead to success. They came to a sobering realization: ideology alone wasn't enough for them. 7.1 needed someone who truly understood music. Someone who could give 7.1 a clear, defined shape. During that time, Snew met a friend of Guy's. A person for whom music was life itself. Someone who could complete 7.1's sound. Snew grew closer to Leo, telling him, "The art you're making… it lacks flavor. It lacks a human heart and perspective. The only viewpoint you have is of music that is technically difficult and perfect according to textbooks and manuals. But if there were a place where you could understand it on a deeper level, understand what you currently cannot, I promise you, 7.1 will be that place for you." Leo, the guitarist, became the final member of our "Penny in The Pocket."
